We have the votes to pass the budget, but should it pass?

When the budget was being debated the other day, I delivered my most emotional and heartfelt speech against this budget because of what it does not do for our people and families that are impacted by mental health issues. There are the votes to pass this but I expect that there will be bi-partisan votes against from Clark County's delegation.

If we in the legislature do not let our people know what the good things cost we are not doing all of our job. This budget sweeps dollars that could be spent on public works, housing, pollution prevention and remediation, mental health and domestic violence programs to name just a few. It uses those dollars for things that I support and some things I believe are low priorities. In some areas it treats our community badly compared to others. Inadequate and unfair.
